Merrium-Webster Definition of hermeneutic
Hermeneutics plural in form but singular or plural in construction: the study of the methodological principles of interpretation (as of the Bible)
Ever wondered why there are two Adam and Eve creation stories?
Is one just a shorthand explanation of the other?
Why two stories? Was there more than one author?
Well that and many other variations and differences in the scriptural text have fascinated and frustrated people for generations. Hermenutics is the official Biblical scholars' word for this area of study.
Over the next few weeks we will be dipping a toe into the world of Hermeneutics in our "Word on Wednesdays." Please join me if you can as we consider selected parts of R.E.Friedman's classic, "Who Wrote the Bible?"
I invite you to join me on Zoom
on Wednesdays at 4:00pm.
