Haznedls Attend Language Immersion and Global Awareness Camp

Ron and Alice Haznedl recently attended the Language Immersion and Global Awareness Camp at the Stonghold Conference Center, Oregon, Ill. sponsored by the Chicago Presbytery and the Office of Multicultural Ministries of the Presbyterian Church USA. They studied Arabic intensively for six hours a day for six days, learning the Arabic alphabet, the sounds and structure of the language, and many useful words and phrases. Both of them have studied and visited in the middle East since they were in college, and Ron shared slides of one of his archaeological digs at the Camp.

TAIZE WORSHIP SERVICES
HELD AT RCLPC first Thursdays of each month

RCLPC Taize musiciansThe Ridgefield Crystal Lake Presbyterian Church will hold it's next taize' service on Thursday, October 6, 2005, at 7:00 pm. in the sanctuary. The service features meditative singing, a scripture reading, prayer and silence with lit candles adorning the sanctuary. Attendees are asked to take a song book at the back of the sanctuary and enter in silence. The mood of the service is peaceful, with silent meditation at the heart of worship.

Our charming and historic sanctuary provides the perfect setting for this transforming new style of worship. Please join us. The church is accessible to people with disabilities, and childcare will be provided in the nursery.

Pictured above are some of the Taize' musicians, left to right, Stephen Neilson, directing, Elizabeth Novak, Will Cooper, Stacy Terlep, David Dees, Ellie Cooper, Scott Iddings, Janet Holub, and Al Popp. For information, please call 815 459-1132.

Anyone may select a handstamped card (get well, sympathy, birthday, thinking of you), write a message, look up the address of the person in the directory of members that is attached to the cart, and then put the card in the drop box on the cart. The Caring Crafters will stamp and mail the card the next day. People who use the cards are welcome to make a donation to help purchase stamps and materials to make more cards. The Caring Crafters meet twice a month to stamp greeting cards and make and deliver soup to members and friends of the congregation who need a helping hand.
